The second encounter of the super Sunday Double header is between the two powerhouses of the Indian Premier League, and
. MI is one of the most successful Cricket franchises in the world with five IPL titles to their credit. The side has done wonders under the captaincy of Rohit Sharma in the past few years. But the team would look for a better season after a disastrous 2022 outing. MI will not have the services of their star bowler Jasprit Bumrah for this season but the addition of Jofra Archer can fill up that pace bowler slot for the Mi bowling unit. The inclusion of All-rounder Cameron Green provides a lot of balance to the MI lineup. Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Skipper Rohit Sharma make for an amazing Top order and the presence of Tim David, Tristan Stubbs and Dewald Brewis in the middle order completes the batting requirements. The Pace attack consists of Archer, Cameron Green, Jason Behrendorff, Sandeep Warrier, and Arjun Tendulkar while the spin department has the likes of Hrithik Shokeen and Kumar Kartikeya. Looking at their opponents, RCB had a good outing in the previous season where they made it to the playoffs. A big plus for the side is the current form of Virat Kohli. Faf du Plessis has been able to find the right combination of having both youth and experience in the side. The side needs Glenn Maxwell their T20 specialist to come well if the team has to go the distance. Other Overseas stars in the RCB ranks are Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, David Willey, Wanindu Hasaranga and Reece Topley. The Indian contingent consists of Mohammad Siraj, Harshal Patel, Suyash Prabhudessai, and the finisher Dinesh Karthik who can feature in the playing eleven. It will be a cracker of a contest between two teams containing a lot of firepower!

Head to Head :-

Both the teams have squared off against each other 30 times with

Venue Stats:-

In a total of 81 IPL matches played here, 44 of them have been won by the teams chasing the target. 169 is the average first innings score here!

TOSS:-

Faf du Plessis, RCB Captain: "We are going to bowl first tonight. There's a bit of weather around. There has been a bit of dew in the practice games too. Myself, Bracewell, Maxwell, and Topley are the four overseas players. We have been so excited to get started to tonight. This is one of the great stadiums to play cricket in. The goal is to make it to the playoffs and take one game at a time.

Rohit Sharma, MI Captain: "With this new Impact player rule teams are backing themselves to chasing totals. At the end of the day, you have to come out and play good cricket to win. We know we have to bat first here and we are prepared. The pitch looks good, we just have to come out with positive intent. Our Four overseas players are Tim David, Cameron Green, Jofra Archer and Jason Behrendorff. Last season was a disappointment for us but again, we know exactly where we went wrong so we will try and correct those mistakes this time around. We have got some new faces as well so hopefully, those guys play freely and express themselves."

Powerplay (1-6 Overs) :-

MI- 29/3 (4.8 rpo, 3x4, 1x6) || RCB- 53/0 (8.8 rpo, 5x4, 3x6)

Middle Overs (7-15 Overs) :-

MI - 73/2 (8.1 rpo, 6x4, 3x6) || RCB- 95/1 (10.5 rpo, 5x4, 7x6)

Death Overs (16-20 Overs) :-

MI- 69/2 (13.8 rpo, 6x4, 3x6) || RCB- 24/1 (20.0 rpo, 1x4, 3x6)

It was a good toss to win and bowl first for the Royal Challengers. MI top order was back in the hut before the powerplay got over and the run-rate was less than 5 r.p.o. Skipper Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Cameron Green fell cheaply while Surya got a start but failed to convert it into a big score. The only batter who looked in form was Tilak Varma who played a blinder scoring an unbeaten 84 off 46 deliveries. In response to a target of 172, Virat Kohli and Skipper Faf du Plessis came out all guns blazing. The duo added 148 runs in 14.5 overs and took the game away from the opposition. Faf was the one who started the onslaught and Virat Kohli followed the path. Faf's 73 (43) and Virat's unbeaten 82 (49) ensured that RCB secure the total with 3.4 overs to spare. It was a treat to watch batters like Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis in such a kind of form!

Rohit Sharma, MI Captain: "Didn’t have a great start with the bat in the powerplay. But, it was a really good effort from Tilak Varma and a few other batters in the end. But, we didn’t execute well with the ball too. Tilak Varma is a positive person, and quite talented as well. Some of the shots he played, showed a lot of courage. Hats off to Tilak to get us to a competitive total of 171. We didn't even bat to half of our potential. Probably 30-40 runs more would have been ideal. Without Jasprit Bumrah, Of course, this is a different setup but someone needs to put their hand up and step up. We can't keep dwelling in the past. Injuries are not in our control, we can't do much about it. The other guys in the setup are quite talented as well. We need to give them that support. Just the first game of the season, there's a lot to look forward to."

FAF DU PLESSIS is the Player of the Match.

Faf du Plessis, RCB Captain: "Nice to start the way we did. Initially in the powerplay , Siraj had the tail up and he set the tone for us. Right through the innings, our bowlers stuck to the plans and executed them perfectly. If you took pace off the ball, it wasn't too easy to play and there was something in it for the spinners too but as a batter if you got into good positions you could score runs on this track. My first time playing here as a home player and it's a special feeling, especially batting with Virat Kohli. Energy bounces off him. This start will be huge for us as a team."

Match 5
2023-04-02 19:30:00","Innings1Overs":"20","Innings2Overs":"20
210","2ndProjectedScore":"0","3rdProjectedScore":"0
22"}]}); leading the tally with 17 wins.
